After much thought and after much encouragement and interest from my "reading friends", I have decided to enjoy the holidays by hosting a Winter Holiday Reading Challenge. We are all busy people, so the guidelines will be simple in order for us enjoy our little holiday getaways into reading.
The Winter Holiday Reading Challenge will last from November 1, 2008 to January 31, 2009.
The theme for this challenge is Winter Holidays. The books that you choose to read must have a storyline that includes celebrating a winter holiday, such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, New Year's, etc. (However, the holidays are not limited to just these examples.)
You choose the number of books you wish to read.
Leave a comment at the end of this post if you want to join in on the fun.
Each month, leave a comment at the end of the Winter Holiday Reading Challenge Update post that includes the book (title and author) that you read for that month and the link to your review (if you have one).
And finally... Enjoy your holiday reading!

I was hoping someone would do a Holiday challenge! I'm joining but I don't know how many books I'll read - I need to check the bookstores and see what new Christmas books are there. I'll post a list later.

I'm in! I'll have to unearth the holiday books I know I have sitting around and since digging them out of the packing boxes could take a while, I'll only commit to two but most likely read more depending on when I find the two I'm thinking of.
I'll join in to...I'm due to have our first child shortly after the holidays so for now I will commit to 4 holiday themed books, but hope to read a few more. I'm not going to list any titles because I want some flexibility to go with whatever mood strikes at the time. - Lena

Well I met my challenge I set. I chose to read to books. I changed my choices but I ended up reading "Silent Night" by Mary Higgins Clark. Never really read any of hers so this was a good one to start on. Then I just finished the second one I read "The Christmas Train" by David Baldacci I think I've read some of his but not sure. This was a very very good book. I was a little disappointed in the very end. But oh well. It was good. I may end up reading more Holiday ones but not sure I am on a deadline to finish Les Miserables by the 20th of Dec. So we will see. But then I'll have all of Jan. so who know.

I guess I'm a little behind in posting that I finished this one, although I promise I finished in the requisite time period! I ended up reading A Wallflower Christmas by Lisa Kleypas and The History of the Snowman by Bob Eckstein. Both were pretty fun and light.
